Did you know?
There is one undeniable fact that regardless of age, gender, race, religious background, being rich or poor, educated or not, a time would come in life when a person will face circumstances that can cause health issues . Mental illness is a too much complex field to define and can affect people in different ways . Google defines it as “a nervous or mental breakdown , a period of intense mental distress”.
However mental issues may be aggravated by some personal conditions such as bereavement, rejection, bankruptcies, stress, anxiety, migration, loss, depression, isolation, and so many other factors. This is just a non exhaustive list of factors but these issues can be triggered at any time and to anybody . In fact it is a normal cycle of life and nobody can escape it, one way or another it will happen just like a child is born to grow up then face up to adult life or changes so is the mind of a person once it gets to deal with all sorts of factors in real life.

Why here and now
Our charity main goal is to raise awareness on poverty factors , so we believe that in this day and age , mental issue is a silent killer, and so we have also encapsulated it in our fight against poverty as a main issue , even worse than material lack, which is so often ignored as it can be easily dismissed being an invisible issue. How many are actually secretly dealing with this kind of issue and how often do we hear that a case only get discovered after a serious disasters had happened? Therefore we embrace the national awareness that is spreading in UK and encouraged everywhere by so many charities. Having said that our charity does not operate on a professional basis but only works as an agency providing volunteers to healthcare centre in order to help them looking after the people within their communities.

How do we operate?
Pre DDW has put into place a team of volunteers to help the senior citizens, mainly living lonely , it could be people who have become very dependant, those released from hospital or those who need help with daily chores or have lost mobility. There are safeguarding policy and strict conditions put in place to protect both the patients and our volunteers before being accepted to work with the healthcare institutions.

Our Objectives
PreDDW volunteers endeavour to help the elderly in our local communities as we all know the number of our aged community is growing every decade, and they can be vulnerable and get easily isolated. It is challenging and very demanding but we are hoping to gain more volunteers so we can provide our services to some great organisation such as Age UK. We will tell more in our next blog. So please stay with us and continue to support this great cause.
Pre-DDW sees Loneliness in England as another kind of poverty. To be deprived of affection, friendship, moral support can cause depression, self destruction , anxiety and mental issues.

A recent survey states that there are more people aged over 55 years old living lonely in England. Our country is getting an ageing country so for this Preddw is launching project called the ‘Christmas Touch’.
What is it? The fight against another form of poverty, the mental poverty which can cause to mental health problems. With the support of Age UK, Preddw will be getting in touch with our elderly and lonely living in our local communities, visiting them, spending time, cooking with them, sharing a cuppa, help with shopping or just listening to them.

We endeavour to be staying in touch with our lonely elderly neighbours not only during winter or at Christmas but to make this a regular thing.
Thank you for your support
