We were appalled by what we heard and saw during our mission there as we have encountered the worst kind of human depravation. A recent statistic states that in the Eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo 12 women are raped every minute.<\/span><\/p>

Irrespective of their age, young or elderly women are both targeted, and if they are not killed during these horrible acts they are left to live hopeless with their ordeals, as most of the times they are rejected within their own community, set a part to be quarantined, never to be married, with crushed dream and bearing their humiliation and depreciation for the rest of their lives.<\/span><\/p>

Based upon our Christian faith that states strongly that nothing is impossible with God if we really want to achieve something or anything, we strongly believe that by working together for a same cause, with a same vision we can move mountains, we can change things for a better future.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

The Coltan is a vital mineral that is essential for the making of every single cell phone. Coltan is mainly found in the Eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo, situated in the centre of Africa. According to Google, the Congolese Coltan represents around 10% of the world production. This mineral has increasingly been sought out and consequently has caused so many bloody conflicts where women and children have been killed.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

In this ignominious traffic, men have been used in the worst conditions to extracts this material but the most exploited are women and children for pittance money. All that In order to smuggle the Coltan out of the country. Why? Because it is the most essential material which will make your smart phone works! This is not a campaign to stop people using their phones or make them feel guilty of their earned possession but it is important to raise awareness for people to realise the ugly reality that surrounds your latest smartphone and at what price the children and women of DRC are paying daily with their lives for people like you and me to be able to access the world networks , to be seen on favourite social medias , to hold meetings, to enjoy games , or simply uploading and downloading our favourite data.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Whilst technology is improving could it be just fair that these people lives should also be improved in parallel? We pledge for people to consider this philanthropic cause by giving generously. The Coltan smuggling has been in the middle of civil war in the DR Congo for many years causing endless misery and conflicts to the Easter part of the Congolese population and crippling the country. The most affected people have been women and children who have been continuously violated physically, emotionally, and socially. Their living conditions are beyond poverty!<\/span><\/p>

So much has been said but so little has been done about it. Pre-DDW vision for DRC is to rehabilitate women and their families constantly enduring the atrocities caused by this civil war. We believe and know that together we can make things better for them.<\/span><\/p>
